The concept of seven days of the week has not been imported from western countries to India. That concept is there even in RigVeda. In Taittiriya Samhita 7-4-7 a Yajna of 49 nights is mentioned. That 49 nights Yajna was performed by sage Vasishta to defeat Sudasa. It is said that a man performing 49 nights yajna gets Viraja. 49 nights fit in multiple of seven only. By Astronomical calculations the exact Birth date of Rama as 4th December 7323 years B.C. I also proved that Rama was to be coronated on 29th November 7306 B.C, but unfortunately he had to depart to the forest on the same day. I had proved that it was Thursday as is said by Seetha and recorded by Valmiki in his famous Ramayana. I have proved that he had completed 17 years of age then. Notes from Book "The Scientific Dating of the Ramayana and the Vedas"
The solar year consists of 365.25 63773 days while the Lunar year consists of 354.367 days. So 10.889 days are deficient. Therefore the seasons slide back on Lunar months. This discrepancy is corrected by taking one Adhimasa in every third year.
This method corrected the discrepancy for a few centuries but when the Sun precesses, the seasons get totally changed as far as the Lunar months are concerned.
Thus Chaitra Masa was consistant with Madhu Masa about a thousand years ago as told by Sayana in his commentary on Taittiriya...
