After Indians these monkeys are also civilized !!!

This photo hit me in social networking site today. The immediate reaction prompted me to post this article. My reaction was "At last after Indians, these monkeys can also be civilized as they can read"

According to Westerners Indian history starts with their ability to read and write. Prior to that whatever they managed to do is not considered authentic history. When Wikipedia says Rig Veda (oldest surviving text in the whole world) is composed between 1500-1200 BC they mean the first written account of Rig Veda. They do not consider our oral tradition. The west considers that Indians became civilized only after they knew how to write/read. Before that they were just nomads, no need to understand their civilization. Hence there is no serious studies happening (forget Indians, we wont even learn about ourselves) in era before 1500 BC.

Schools, of what use

Schools are considered to be the only places where you can get knowledge nowadays. It's well known that the schools in India follow the British education system. Our founding fathers who were awed by the British education system forced it upon us.

The education system primarily focuses on the writing system of learning. This is an extension to the western thinking of prominence to writing than to understanding. Due to this, the evaluation system is focused only on writing and not oral explanations. So here is the first flaw, everyone has to be writers who not necessarily understand and write, but memorize and reproduce what they have learnt.

The blind faith kept by Indians on the education system is being "utilized" for aligning our thoughts towards cementing west superiority. This is the next flaw and mind you, it was not an undesirable consequence. It was a forceful intention of our founding politicians. They wanted us to align our thoughts and actions to mimick the West, as they considered them superior than us. In the longer run, we have forgotten out actual history and culture.

The division of Tamil and Sanskrit

India was a land of rich culture. I have to put force on the past-tense of culture as today what we see is not even the shadow of the original culture. There was a time when in-spite of being in different "princely states", we were Indians.

But today we have reached a stage when we may be living under roof of India as a country. But internally we are divided with so many false notions. One of such false notion is about "Debate of Tamil Vs Sanskrit, which is oldest".

The day we were divided into states based on language, the seed of a new diversity was sown. It reached its highest state when anti-Hindi agitation movement took root in Tmail Nadu. The purpose of this article is to shed some points to the neutral "India" section. I am not biased with either Sanskrit or Tamil. Those who are pro-Tamil or pro-Sanskrit may choose to ignore this post. But read only if you are ready to get fresh perspective.
